All eggs in one basket

In business and in life we are often taught not to carry all the eggs in one basket. Dispersion of risk is something that is often recommended by different professionals. But is this really the case, when we take normal living situations? Do we have more than one partner in case something goes wrong? Do we have tens of children in case one does not turn out right? Do we usually have more than one job in case we lose one? Do we eat appetizers, main course and desert at the same time to ensure they will still be there?… In several life situations we focus all our energy on one goal, purpose or person. Is this the right way? No idea! But I do think it is a better.

Yes, there is a recession out there, and yes people do lose jobs, and yes there are hard decisions to be made and days are not always filled with fun and joy…. But why aren’t they?
